 ICE hockey players

If you can skate, I can teach you hockey!

Minor Penalty and the Niemela’s are working to help get more ice hockey players on the ice and get trained to help them develop as skaters. They are raising money to buy ice time and offer FREE instruction to players just starting out in the sport. We know the most important thing a player can learn is to be a good skater. They learned early on from one of their coaches. He would say “If you can skate, I can teach you hockey”. So the Niemela’s are working to teach the newest hockey players more about edge work and stride than about shooting a puck. Ice hockey is an expensive sport; lessons, equipment, and ice time limit who will last in the sport. We hope that by donating our time and ice that we will be helping young skaters move forward in the sport we love.

We are always raising money for ice time. Since we are not a non-profit so we do ask that you donate directly to Ice In Paradise. They are a non-profit and all donations can be used for tax benefits. When donating please reference Minor Penalty and we will get the benefit to use for ice times.

teaching girls hockey

Sofia and reese Raise money for girls hockey in Santa Barbara

After almost 10 years playing at the highest levels of California hockey, Sofia and Reese wanted to help spur the interest in hockey for girls in their home town of Santa Barbara. They worked with the local ice rink, Ice In Paradise, to coordinate times to get local girls on the ice and playing hockey. They raised money from local businesses to buy ice time. So far the girls have worked on different skills with girls new to the sport and some already playing on the local ice hockey teams.
